Military Pay Calculator
Projects annual gross income from a single Leave & Earnings Statement (LES): basic pay, BAH, BAS, special pays, and prorated clothing allowance. You can also upload an LES and let AI extract the figures.
Step by step
-
Upload an LES or fill by handClick Upload LES for Analysis to have AI read a PDF of the LES (PDF only, up to 10 MB and 5 pages) and fill in the form. The line below shows how many analyses you have left this week. You can also close the window and enter the figures by hand. Always check every field after an upload.
-
Set the member profileChoose the Branch and Duty status, and click Yes under Dependents if the member has dependents. Then pick the Paygrade and Years of service.
-
Suggest basic pay and BASOnce a paygrade is picked, Suggest next to BAS fills in the monthly amount from the DoD pay table; Suggest next to Basic pay also needs years of service. You can type over either amount.
-
Look up BAH by ZIPClick Look up next to BAH, enter the duty-station ZIP code, and click Look up. The locality rate for the paygrade (with or without dependents) fills in, and the locality is shown under the field.
-
Add special paysClick + Add under Special pays for each special or incentive pay on the LES and enter its name and monthly amount. Use Other entitlements for line items that have no field of their own.
-
Add the clothing allowanceEnter the annual clothing allowance, or click Look up, choose the fiscal year, branch, and gender, click Show rates, and click the row that applies. The tool divides it by 12.
-
Calculate and read the resultsClick Calculate. The tiles show each monthly part of pay, Monthly Gross adds them up, and Annual Gross is Monthly Gross × 12, which assumes a full month of active-duty pay (use the National Guard Pay Calculator for drill-only statements).
-
Print, save, or resetClick Print Worksheet for a printable report with the full formula, or Save to Household to file the result in Household Folio (subscribers only). Reset asks you to confirm, then clears the form for the next member.
What you get
Result tiles for Basic Pay, BAH, BAS, Special Pays, Other, and Clothing, plus Monthly Gross and a highlighted Annual Gross (Monthly × 12). The LES upload opens a drag-and-drop modal (PDF, 10 MB, 5 pages) and shows your remaining weekly analyses. A Print Worksheet button produces a printable report.
Tips & notes
- The ×12 projection assumes a full month of active-duty pay — use the National Guard Pay Calculator for drill-only LES statements.
- Hostile Fire Pay (HFP) is shown but automatically excluded from the totals per HUD Part 5. Imminent Danger Pay (IDP) is not excluded and counts as income.
- AI extraction never pulls deductions (tax, FICA, SGLI, TSP) — only gross-income components — so review every field.
- The Suggest and Look up buttons stay disabled until the prerequisite fields are selected.
